Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about spa design, installation timelines, maintenance, and our service area across the UAE and GCC.

What areas do you serve?

We design, engineer, and install spa and wellness facilities across the UAE and the wider GCC, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman. Our workshop and headquarters are in Al Quoz, Dubai.

What services does WellnessScape offer?

WellnessScape provides end-to-end spa solutions: sauna rooms, steam rooms, hammam/Moroccan bath, vitality pools, ice fountains and arctic rooms, and multi-sensory experience showers, plus design consultation, engineering, equipment supply, installation, and ongoing maintenance.

How do I request a quote?

Use the contact form on our Contact page, selecting your service of interest, or email [email protected]. We typically respond within 24 hours.

What happens after I submit a quote request?

A project consultant reviews your requirements and follows up to discuss scope, space, and budget in more detail. From there, most projects move into a design consultation — including a site assessment and 3D designs — before any formal quotation or procurement begins.

Do you work on residential projects, or only commercial?

Both. We design private home saunas and wellness rooms as well as commercial installations for hotels, fitness clubs, and resorts — the design and engineering process scales to the project size.

Can you retrofit wellness amenities into an existing building?

Yes, we regularly retrofit saunas, steam rooms, and hammams into existing buildings. Retrofit projects typically involve more complex waterproofing, drainage, and ventilation work than new-build integration, which can affect both cost and timeline.

Do you provide 3D designs before construction begins?

Yes, every project starts with a design consultation that includes a space assessment and detailed 3D designs and technical specifications before any construction or procurement begins.

What sauna heater size do I need for my space?

Heater output should be sized to your cabin's volume, insulation, and glass door area — not just floor space. Our team calculates this precisely as part of the design consultation, since an undersized heater struggles to reach temperature and an oversized one wastes energy.

What's the minimum room size for a sauna or steam room?

A single-person sauna can fit into a relatively compact footprint, though most residential cabins are built larger for comfort. Steam rooms need a bit more clearance for seating and drainage falls, and both scale up significantly for multi-person commercial use — our design team confirms exact dimensions for your space as part of the design consultation.

What ventilation does a steam room or hammam need?

Steam rooms and hammams need dedicated mechanical extraction to manage humidity and prevent condensation or mold buildup once the space is out of use. This is engineered into the design alongside waterproofing and drainage, rather than added afterward.

Can wellness amenities be added to an existing pool deck or gym?

Yes, sauna, steam, and cold-therapy installations are a common addition to existing pool decks, gyms, and spa areas. As with any retrofit, feasibility depends on available space, structural load, drainage, and access for services — our team assesses this on-site during the design consultation.

What brands of equipment do you install?

We primarily install EOS (Germany) sauna heaters and control systems and Condair commercial steam generators, alongside our own precision-engineered stainless steel components for hammams, benches, and custom fittings.

Do EOS heaters support digital or app-based control?

Many EOS control panel models support digital and app-based control alongside standard wall-mounted panels, which also helps run the heater efficiently rather than leaving it on longer than needed. Exact features vary by model — your project consultant will confirm what's available for your chosen heater.

What warranty comes with the equipment you install?

Equipment we supply carries the manufacturer's standard warranty (EOS, Condair, and other suppliers we work with). Exact terms vary by product line, so your project consultant will confirm the specific warranty coverage for the equipment in your quotation.

Do you supply spare parts and accessories for equipment you didn't originally install?

In many cases yes, particularly for EOS and Condair equipment. Contact us with your model details and we'll confirm availability.

What is the difference between a sauna and a steam room?

A sauna uses dry heat (70–90°C, low humidity) with a wood-lined cabin, while a steam room uses low heat (40–50°C) at 100% humidity in a waterproofed enclosure fed by a dedicated steam generator. Read our full comparison on the WellnessScape blog for more detail.

Is a hammam the same as a steam room?

No — a hammam typically incorporates steam generation but adds a heated marble platform, traditional tilework, and cultural bathing rituals. It's a distinct experience built with additional waterproofing and finish requirements beyond a standard steam room.

How often should you use a sauna or steam room?

Commercial facilities are typically designed for daily multi-session use, and frequency for any individual guest comes down to personal comfort and time. Anyone with a heart condition, who is pregnant, or has another health concern should check with a doctor before regular use — this is general guidance, not medical advice.

What is an ice fountain, and why pair it with heat therapy?

An ice fountain dispenses crushed ice for guests to apply after a hot sauna or steam session, as part of contrast therapy — alternating hot and cold to stimulate circulation. It's a common pairing in commercial spas alongside cold plunge pools and arctic rooms.

What's the difference between traditional and infrared saunas?

A traditional sauna heats the air around you to 70–90°C using a stove and stones, while an infrared sauna uses panels that warm your body directly at a lower ambient temperature, typically 45–60°C. Both have a place depending on the guest experience and space you're designing for — our team can walk through the trade-offs during your consultation.

How long does a typical spa installation take?

From initial design consultation to handover, most commercial projects take 10–16 weeks depending on scope, finish complexity, and coordination with the wider building's construction schedule.

Can I get a cost estimate before committing to a full design consultation?

Commercial spa costs vary significantly with scope, finish tier, and site conditions, so we don't publish flat pricing. Contact us with your space and amenity requirements and we'll provide a detailed quotation.

What factors affect the cost of a spa installation the most?

The biggest cost drivers are the scope of amenities you're installing, your chosen finish tier, and site conditions — retrofits with complex waterproofing or drainage work cost more than new-build integration. Equipment brand and capacity also factor in, which is why we size and quote each project individually rather than publishing flat pricing.

Can installation be phased for a hotel or facility that's still operating?

In many cases yes — phased installation can be scheduled around your facility's operating hours and guest areas to minimize disruption. Discuss your operational constraints with your project consultant during the design consultation so this can be built into the project plan from the start.

Do you offer maintenance contracts after installation?

Yes, we offer ongoing maintenance for the equipment we install, covering preventive servicing, descaling, safety system checks, and emergency repair support.

What does a maintenance visit typically include?

A standard maintenance visit covers inspection of heaters and steam generators, descaling, checking safety cut-offs and control systems, and addressing any minor wear before it becomes a breakdown. The exact scope depends on your equipment and contract — your consultant can confirm what's included for your site.

How quickly can you respond to an emergency repair request?

We prioritize emergency call-outs for equipment failures ahead of routine scheduled work. Contact our support line or email with your issue and location so we can dispatch a technician as quickly as possible — response time depends on your location within our GCC service area.

Do you offer maintenance and support outside Dubai or across the wider GCC?

Yes, our maintenance and support coverage extends across our full GCC service area — the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman — not just Dubai, where our workshop and headquarters are based.
